Reconsider your need to travel

Weโ€™ve reviewed our advice for Nigeria. We havenโ€™t changed our overall level, reconsider your need to travel. Some areas have an increased risk, we have raised the level of advice for Kogi State and Lagos city. Thereโ€™s a high risk of terrorist attacks and kidnappings across Nigeria, including in the capital city Abuja, by various militant groups. Further attacks are likely. If, despite our advice, you undertake travel within Nigeria, research your routes and get professional security advice and support before departing. Avoid all political gatherings, which may occur with little or no notice. We advise: Reconsider your need to travel to Nigeria overall due to high threats of terrorist attack and kidnapping, the volatile security situation, possible violent civil unrest and high levels of violent crime. Higher levels apply.
